On my first few trips back home to California after moving to New York, I learned something the hard way: My mom was always thrilled to see me, sure — but she was even more thrilled to see the black and white cookie that had traveled the 3,000 miles with me in my suitcase. My mom’s love for black and white cookie runs deep, as does mine now (#genetics #science #thatshowitworksright). If you feel the same (1) are we related, and (2) I’ve got good news.
Entenmann’s — one of the leading mass market makers of black and white cookies — is churning out the treat in donut form. The brand’s genius bakers take their classic yellow cake donuts and dunk half in vanilla frosting and the other half in chocolate. Bye. Done. Never eating another donut ever again.
Apparently these donuts have been around for a year, and that fact’s got me questioning how much of a black and white superfan I really am. Please assuage my worries and tell me you didn’t know either. And now, let’s all get on the same page: The donuts are kind of hard to find in person. They come in boxes of a six, and a quick product search on Entenmann’s site reveals they’re stocked all over New York, but not really outside of the tristate area.
For non New Yorkers (hi, mom), head to Amazon for a totally price-jacked option.
