Homemade Twix Bars Are Better Than Anything You’ll Find In The Candy Aisle

If there’s one complaint we’d have with the chocolate, caramel goodness that is a Twix bar, it’s that they’re just not big enough. I mean, yeah, left Twix vs. right Twix is cute and all, but when you break them apart, there’s just not that much there. The skinny bars are basically gone in a couple bites, and when you need your gooey, crunchy fix, that just isn’t going to cut it. So we just had to remedy that.

We already created the magic that was the Twix cake, but that didn’t really get the crunch that we love in a Twix, so we went back to the drawing board and came up with an even more addicting alternative. You’ve been there, done that with bar cookies, but these are different, guys. We’ve packed in all three layers of a Twix bar (cookie, caramel, and chocolate), and baked it into bar form.

When it came to the caramel layer, we weren’t entirely sure which way to go, but ultimately decided to keep it simple by melting down store-bought caramels with a little heavy cream (1 tablespoon per 10 caramels) because it was just too easy to pass up. Anyone can sub their favorite thick caramel recipe, though. And when melting the chocolate, keep in mind that you should add a little vegetable or coconut oil if it seems to thick, otherwise it won’t be pourable.
