But if you’re to take Instagram as fact, it seems like mothers’ stomachs snap back to their exact pre-baby form in the weeks immediately following giving birth. In the name of body positivity, some ‘grammers have started clapping back, with posts sharing what a postpartum belly really looks like. Others have documented their journeys to show how long it can truly take to tone up.
Catherine Giudici Lowe — you may remember her for marrying former Bachelor Sean Lowe — has been real about her weight struggle on social media since having baby Samuel last year, and now she’s sharing the most inspiring transformation picture. She posted on Instagram this weekend, “3 months postpartum and less than a year later,” tagging her trainer and adding that hard work pays off. It’s already garnered nearly 100,000 likes and 780 comments.
Lowe’s Insta-honesty started the week after she had Samuel, when she shared what her body looked like a week after giving birth. She’s kept up no-frills mirror shots and gym pics since then. Julie Clayton, the owner of Dallas’s Fit180 studios, is the one who’s helped Lowe in the gym, creating a diet plan for her, building up her muscle, and lowering her body fat. “I gained almost 60 pounds from my pregnancy, and now I’m down over 50 pounds, so I’m content with that,” Lowe shared with E! News. “I have never been super strict with anything really, but I’d say I’m trying my best to be balanced in diet, working out, and my personal and professional life,” she added.
If the constant smiles and laughter in her workout pics are any indication, it looks like the road’s been hard, rewarding, and maybe even a little fun.
